<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> am so sick of this thread...I know that If there are not any changes soon with the games a few kids are gonna transfer along with the others that left...I am not gonna say we are running the coach off because as far as I know no one Is trying to do that. But some of the kids are talking about It and I will not mention any names. Now when the kids keep leaving ...doesn't that tell you something???I am really tired of hearing that the parents are running off the coaches...Lets just take the kids somewhere else and let the coaches do what they think they are so good at.. </div></div>
This quote and attitude proves that the parents are trying to run the team...."if you don't do it my way, then my kid will transfer." What coach in their right mind would want to coach at a place like this? Just split the rest of the football team up between Wise and Clintwood and just drop football at Pound.

Re: Rumor Mill
Why dont they just close Pound high school and this "rumor" would just go away.

Re: Rumor Mill
Haha..Not sure why I seem to always be the smart*** on here I really wasn't trying to be..

Re: Rumor Mill
Let be honest, The head coach has really run the program straight in the ground for the past two years. Even with the new field house, it was half done, the visitors locker room(the old field house) was supposed to be used for the visitors; that was part of the agreement to the board to get a new fieldhouse. It has never been cleaned up.I wouldnt let my dog live in there.

Re: Rumor Mill
I will say one good thing about the coach is that he has always had good intentions but somewhere along the way he never follows through on things..I dont know if he could even be a good assistant. It is just not in him

Re: Rumor Mill
Wonder why that happens ..I have noticed lots of the stuff they go over at practice through the week and then you never see It come game day..

Re: Rumor Mill
Well a coach who comes in right before the season (last year), and on a mandate of getting rid of the old coaches, what do you expect??
I don't know Crabtree really, and honestly his decency is not the issue here, nor really is his ability to coach or not coach. The issue too me is of unrealistic expectations. First off, when the town basically has a petition to get rid of a coaching staff, you realize things aren't good. When you have people who seem to equate winning some little league games with future state championships, you aren't going to do very good. It's great if your youth programs win, but guess what the bigger purpose of youth football is supposed to be? To teach kids how to play, teach them fundamentals, not worry about running gimmick plays and then bragging that you're newborn team is loaded with stud talent that are all already being recruited by Division 1 schools.
I feel sorry for the majority of Pound residents because they get taken down a minority that have their heads so far up their rectums that they don't realize the damage they do. This thread or other threads like it do not hurt the Pound program 1/100th of what the inmates trying to run the asylum do.
Look at it this way, if Crabree is or isn't a good coach, what is his experience? 2 years, 3 years? Not much more than that, and what was his experience before he got the head coaching job at Ervinton? Now I don't know his staff but knowing that they pretty much didn't want any of the previous staff, how much coaching experience does the assistants have? Good kids, good players, nice people, that's all great, but building a program, not a team but a program requires some experience, community being behind a program and honestly, the program being built from the youth on up. Why is Kelly baseball good? Is it because those kids come out of the womb knowing how to play baseball or is it because people who had a clue coached and taught them from the earliest years. They didn't try to find a big kid who could throw hard and scare everybody to death, they taught kids how to pitch.
Now a mandate to beat Appy? If that's true, then Pound deserves what they get! If that's 0-10, 1-9, 2-8 or whatever, they deserve it!
Do I think Crabtree is a great coach? No, I don't. Do I think with the way things are done over in Pound that a great coach could win? Probably some but nowhere near as much as they should be able to. Why is that? Because there are some people who are absolutely insane over there with expectations, and over-inflate kids egos.
If a kid hears how great they are when they are 7-8, how much are they going to work to get better? Shoot they are already all world. And if they show up to play for a coach who doesn't think the sun doesn't shine on their rearend, its never that little Johnny isn't fast enough or not strong enough or that he takes 4 out of every 5 plays off, its that dang coach doesn't know what he's doing.
I've been around enough coaches to know that you don't have too many coaches who put the time into a sport that it requires who want to lose, who want to suck or who want to be hated. I also know that I've seen some of the best coaches, be it in high school, college, or pro who can't win at one place, and do at another. Did they suddenly get smart? Did they suddenly learn how to coach or did they finally get in an environment that works and have a support system that helps them.

Re: Rumor Mill
Now, expect those same parents to start sending pm's to you and other mods wanting all of what you just posted removed because it's "libel" the way they did mine. Idiots. No everything is hunky doory in Pound. None of those things are true. http://vmedia.rivals.com/images/smilies/roll.gif
